10 August, 09:58The total number of fatalities in the region is 21941 (+133), of which 9196 registered in Germany, 2659 in Romania, 1897 in Ukraine, 1800 in Poland, 841 in Moldova, 721 in Austria, 632 in Serbia, 602 in Hungary, 585 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (215891, +555 in the last 24 hours), followed by Ukraine (80949, +1199), Belarus (68738, +124), Romania (60623, +1350), Poland (51167, +843), Serbia (27863, +255), Moldova (27443, +453), Austria (21935, +116). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 155380 confirmed cases and 5492 deaths were registered as of August 9.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 7242 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (6803), Montenegro (5719), North Macedonia (5667) and Kosovo (5534), compared to 4135 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Hungary (476 per million) and Slovakia (471 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (252), followed by Moldova (208), Kosovo (169), Romania (137), Bosnia-Herzegovina (113) and Germany (111), Slovakia the lowest (6). Italy has recorded around 582 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 27 and August 3, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+23,4%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+19,0%) and Romania (+18,7%). (ANSA).
