20 July, 10:45The total number of fatalities in the region is 19349 (+78), out of which 9084 registered in Germany, 2009 in Romania, 1618 in Poland, 1485 in Ukraine 711 in Austria, 680 in Moldova, 596 in Hungary, 495 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (201574, +202 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (65953, +171), Ukraine (58842, +731), Poland (39746, +339), Romania (36691, +889), Moldova (20794, +300), Serbia (20498, +389), Austria (19508, +102), and Czechia (13855, +113). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 100438 confirmed cases and 3920 deaths were registered as of July 19.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6948 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (5155) and North Macedonia (4345), compared to 4038 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (370 per million) and Slovakia (363 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (199), followed by Moldova (169) and Germany (109), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 579 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 6 and July 13, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+56,3%), Kosovo (+41,1%), Bulgaria (+31,1%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+27,6%) and Albania (+20,5%). Only in Latvia, Austria, Belarus, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
