Coronavirus:more than 274000 cases in New Europe,10.677 died

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 4 - A total of 274.396 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+3079 day-on-day), of which 162496 in Germany only, were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, May 3st. The growth of COVID-19 cases in several countries in the region has however slowed until April 27, in particular in Austria, Slovenia and Montenegro, while is strongly rising in Belarus.

The total number of fatalities in the region is 10.677 (+165), out of which 6649 registered in Germany, 771 in Romania, 664 in Poland, 596 in Austria, 340 in Hungary, 288 in Ukraine, 245 in Czechia, 189 in Serbia, 143 in Greece, 124 in Moldova, 97 in Belarus.

Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (162496, +793 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (15828, +911), Austria (15508, +27), Poland (13375, +270), Romania (12732, +165), Ukraine (11913, +502), Serbia (9362, +157), Czechia (7755, +18), Moldova (4052, +72), Hungary (2998, +56), Greece (2620, +29), Croatia (2088, +3), Bosnia-Herzegovina (1757), Estonia (1699, +5), Bulgaria (1594, +6), North Macedonia (1506, +12), Slovenia (1439, +5), Slovakia (1407, +4), Lithuania (1406, +7), Latvia (871, +1), Kosovo (823, +10), Albania (795, +26), and Montenegro (322).

In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 33.289 confirmed cases and 1.408 deaths were registered until May 3st.

In Central and Eastern Europe, Germany has registered about 1954 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3461 in Italy, followed by Austria (1748), Belarus (1688), Moldova (1511), and Serbia (1344), while the lowest rate was observed in Bulgaria (228 per million), according to a tally based on WHO data. Germany has registered also the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (80), followed by Austria (67) and Moldova (46) and Slovenia (45), Albania (3) and Slovakia the lowest (4). Italy has recorded around 475 deaths per million inhabitants.

Between April 20 and April 27, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was registered in Belarus (+118,9%), followed by Ukraine (+57,8%), Kosovo (+42,6%), Bulgaria (42,1%), Moldova (+37,1%) and Hungary (+30,2%), the lowest in Austria (+3,3%), Montenegro (+4,2%) and Slovenia (+5,8%).

Between April 13 and April 20, the highest weekly increases of confirmed cases were registered in Belarus (+85.4%), Ukraine (+84.1%), Serbia (+74.0%), Slovakia (+56.5%) and Moldova (+48.7%), the lowest in Austria (+5.5%), Greece (+5.7%) and Slovenia (+10.4%). Between April 6 and April 12, the highest weekly increases of confirmed cases were registered in Belarus (+296,1%), Ukraine (+110,5%), Kosovo (+95,2%), Hungary (+89,5%), Moldova (+80,6%) and Serbia (+80,6%), the lowest in Austria (+15,2%), Latvia (+18,2%), Albania (+18,3%), Estonia (+18,9%) and Slovenia (+19,2%). Previously, between March 30 and April 5, the highest weekly increases of confirmed cases were registered in Belarus (+368%), Moldova (+186%), Ukraine (+160%), Montenegro (+132%) and Serbia (+119%).
