(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 16 LUG - Although dealerships opened for business again after lockdown, consumer demand did not fully recover in the EU, including in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe in June 2020, the European Automobile Manufacturers Associations (ACEA) said today.

In a comparison between June 2019 and June 2020, new passenger car registrations dropped by 49.4% in Croatia, 40.8% in Lithuania, 37.2% in Greece, 33.9% in Estonia, 32.3% in Germany, 29.9% in Bulgaria, 27.8% in Romania, 23.7% in Hungary, 21.1% in Latvia, 20.5% in Poland, 20.2% in Slovakia, 18.0% in Austria, and only 5.8% in Slovenia and 5.2% in Czechia.

In June 2020, registrations of new passenger cars in the EU totalled 949,722 units, -22.3% compared to the same month last year. However, this does mark a slight improvement over May 2020, which saw a drop of 52.3% across the European Union, ACEA said. Over the first half of 2020, EU demand for new passenger cars contracted by 38.1%. (ANSA).
