13 August, 12:18The total number of fatalities in the region is 22325 (+142), of which 9207 registered in Germany, 2764 in Romania, 1970 in Ukraine, 1821 in Poland, 857 in Moldova, 723 in Austria, 652 in Serbia, 605 in Hungary, 592 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (218519, +1226 in the last 24 hours), followed by Ukraine (84548, +1433), Belarus (69905, +58), Romania (63762, +1215), Poland (52961, +551), Serbia (28497, +235), Moldova (28223, +382), Austria (22260, +138), Czechia (18783, +289). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 161498 (+2296) confirmed cases and 5738 (+92) deaths were registered as of August 12.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 7365 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (6996), Montenegro (5980), North Macedonia (5828) and Kosovo (5827), compared to 4154 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Hungary (486 per million) and Slovakia (480 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (255), followed by Moldova (212), Kosovo (190), Romania (142), Bosnia-Herzegovina (120), Montenegro (116), Germany (111), Slovakia the lowest (6). Italy has recorded around 582 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between August 3 and August 10, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Greece (+20,6%), Kosovo (+16,5%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+16,5%), Albania (+16,2%) and Romania (+16,1%). (ANSA).
