North Macedonia: after the elections, all appeals rejected

Social Democrat won 46 seats, conservatives ended up with 44

20 July, 15:50
(ANSA) - SKOPJE, 20 LUG - In North Macedonia, where the general election took place on July 15, the electoral commission rejected all the appeals and objections that several parties submitted. The conservative party Vmro-Dpmne - defeated by the Social Democrats led by ex-premier Zoran Zaev - had reported alleged fraud, given the "excessive" number of spoilt ballot papers. Those papers would have been in favor of Vmro-Dpmne.

Based on the final results announced in recent days by the electoral commission - delayed due to an attack on its website - the Social Democrats (SDM) won 46 seats out of the total of 120 of the Macedonian parliament, the conservatives 44, the Albanian Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) 15, the Alliance for Albanians 12, Levica (Left) 2, the Democratic Party of Albanians 1. The turnout had been just over 50%. (ANSA).
