(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Ongoing dispute between Italy and Slovenia in Brussels over the Zaule LNG terminal in Trieste. According to a EU news source, ''there is no agreement'', after the meeting between the EU Commission and the Member States of the regional working groups in charge of establishing the priority projects in the energy field.

Slovenia has clearly expressed a veto to Zaule (Trieste) project and did not accept the working hypothesis of an alternative project of common interest in the Adriatic. ''Negotiations between Italy and Slovenia are in progress and the European Commission seeks to facilitate an agreement'', EU news source stated. According to the roadmap, the EU government should make a decision on the new energy infrastructure priority list by early October. The dispute over Zaule LNG project is going on among the regional working groups in charge of selecting the key- infrastructures of common interest, which according to new rules will benefit not only of EU funds but also of a reduced time for permits and construction.

Friuli Venezia Giulia Region President, Debora Serracchiani underlined that the success of the meeting was that the Commission did not mentioned directly the location for the LNG terminal. "The commitment has paid results", said Serracchiani, reaffirming the will not to have the terminal in Trieste. (ANSA).
