(ANSA) - BERLINO, 05 OTT - The number of refugees with residence permits is decreasing in Germany for the first time since 2011: that is what emerged from a response from the German Interior Ministry to a parliamentary question of the left-wing Linke party, Neue Osnabruecker Zeitung reported. In 2020 there are 62,000 fewer refugees with different statuses in Germany than at the end of 2019. In all, by mid-2020, the authorities recorded 1.77 m refugees with different situations, including asylum seekers and "gedulete" (people who have had their asylum application rejected and who currently enjoy a temporary status). Refugees with residence permits are now 1.2 m, whereas, in 2011, they were just 400,000. Since then, according to the report, every year, the number of refugees with a residence permit has grown, up to 1.83 million in 2019. This decrease is the most significant turnaround since then.
