(ANSA) - WARSAW, 04 MAG - Poland's President Andrzej Duda expressed today his satisfaction with the contract of the Saipem company, which was chosen by the GAz-System for the installation of the new gas pipeline between Denmark and Poland in the Baltic Sea.

In a press conference, the Polish head of state underlined that the Baltic Pipe pipeline would be "the cornerstone" towards the country's full autonomy from deliveries of gas from Russia.

"This is good news, the work will begin immediately," said the Polish head of state, underlining that the program of diversification of gas deliveries to Poland, started years some ago by President Lech Kaczynski, who died in the Smolensk air disaster on April 10, 2010, is also based on the Swinoujscie Lng Gasport, which is being built by Saipem. Baltic Pipe is expected to open in October 2022. (ANSA).
