27 July, 11:22
(ANSA) - SOFIA, JULY 27 - A blast occurred in a stretch of the Bulgarian-Greek gas pipeline near the Kulata-Promachonas border crossing this morning. According to Bulgarian Bgnes news agency, the accident happened in the connector of the two countries' gas pipeline. Bulgarian Ministry of Energy confirmed the news. There is no news of victims for now. Construction of the gas pipeline linking the two countries began in the spring of last year to diversify supplies in south-eastern Europe and stem dependence on Russian gas. The line was to be operational this year and bring Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria. The entire pipeline is 182 kilometers long and has an initial annual capacity of 3 bn cubic meters. (ANSA).
