EU: Orban against 'absurd' Recovery Fund

'More money for richer than for poorer countries'

29 May, 13:44
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 29 MAG - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke today about the European Commission's 750 billion Recovery Fund on his Friday interview on Kossuth Radio, defining the plan absurd.

"We would take" the money "out as a loan together and jointly guarantee its repayment. With this, Europe is embarking on a journey we have never taken before," Orban said, the government portal About Hungary reported. "They want to take out this loan for 30 years, so even our grandchildren may have to pay for it.

We need to think carefully about whether we as a country want this or not," Orban added.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the fund distribution system is absurd because it wants to pay more money to rich countries than to poorer countries, About Hungary quoted him as saying. (ANSA).
