(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 12 AGO - BELGRADE, AUGUST 12 - The outcome of the mission carried out so far in Serbia by a team of five Italian doctors, and a nurse was very positive. Ten days ago, the group arrived in the Balkan country to provide support to Serbian health managers in the covid emergency. The mission was carried out on the Foreign Affairs Ministry's initiative and with the coordination of the Department of Civil Protection. The delegation head, Jacopo Pallavicini, a surgeon at the City of Health and Science in Turin, was delighted with the mission.

This experience allowed a fruitful exchange of expertise and knowledge in the care of the ill and control of the epidemic.

Speaking to reporters, Pallavicini said that the Italian medical team visited various hospitals and health facilities in the Serbian capital, and in Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac. These facilities, he underlined, are quite different from each other, some are more recent and modern, others older or under renovation, but they are all perfectly organized and better prepared to face the emergency. "All those who work in the health facilities do their best and in a well-organized way, and the hospitals are well stocked," the surgeon said, Pallavicini reported that the Serbian side had expressed great interest in continuing the collaboration with Italy in healthcare. Shortly after they arrived in Belgrade, the Italian doctors had talks with the Serbian Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, and during their stay, they met other representatives of the local medical-health sector. Currently, Pallavicini specified, similar missions by Italian medical teams are also underway in Albania and Azerbaijan. (ANSA).
