Vaccines: Croatia also looks to Russian Sputnik V

Due to delays and lack of supplies of vaccines approved by Ema

(ANSA) - ZAGREB, 03 MAR - Croatia is also considering an order for the Sputnik V vaccine of Russian production, based only on a green light from the National Medicines Agency (Halmed), without waiting for the approval of the European one (EMA ).

The Croatian government made this decision due to the delays and lack of vaccine supplies from manufacturers that obtained EMA approval. For this reason, Zagreb asked the Russian side yesterday for the documentation relating to the Sputnik V vaccine, and the Croatian Health Minister had talks with the Russian Federation's ambassador.

According to local media, the government plans to order one million Sputnik doses. The national-level procedure is simpler and faster than that of the EMA but still has a provisional value. The government will make the final decision next week.
