Coronavirus: almost 135,000 cases in New Europe, 2324 deaths

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 07 APR - A total of 134,637 confirmed cases of coronavirus (+5821 day-on-day), 95391 in Germany only, were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece as April 6, show official data of national authorities collected by the World Health Organization (WHO). The total number of fatalities in the region is 2324 (+196), out of which 1434 registered in Germany, 204 in Austria, 148 in Romania.

Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (95391, +3677 in the last 24 hours), followed by Austria (11983, +217), Czech Republic (4587, +115), Poland (4102, +475), Romania (3864, +251), Serbia (1908, +284), Greece (1735, +62), Ukraine (1319, +68), Croatia (1182, +56), Estonia (1097, +79), Slovenia (997, +20), Moldova (864, +112), Lithuania (811, +40), Hungary (744, +11), Bosnia-Herzegovina (662, +39), Belarus (562, +122), North Macedonia (555, +72), Latvia (533, +24), Bulgaria (531, +28), Slovakia (485, +14), Albania (377, +44), Montenegro (203, +6) and Kosovo (145, +5).

In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 10424 confirmed cases and 324 deaths were registered until April 6. Austria has registered 1346 cases of COVID-19 per million, compared to 2132 in Italy, followed by Germany (1147), Estonia (825), Slovenia (482), according to a tally by ANSA based on WHO data. The tally shows that, in the region, Austria has also registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (22.9), followed by Germany (17.2) and Slovenia (13.5). Italy has recorded 262.7 deaths per million inhabitants as of yesterday. Between March 30 and April 5, the highest weekly increases of confirmed cases were registered in Belarus (+368%), Moldova (+186%), Ukraine (+160%), Montenegro (+132%) and Serbia (+119%), according to an ANSA calculation.
