Poland: industrial production accelerates in June

Drivers are energy sector, construction, automotive

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - The industrial production in Poland accelerated by 6.8% year-on-year in June, compared to the 5.4% registered in May, a data slightly above expectations, ING said in a statement today.

According to ING analysts, the main drivers of the industry production rise were the energy sector, the construction related sectors and the automotive, which improved 9.5% year-on-year in June "after a very weak first quarter." In the statement, ING said that they currently forecast the Polish GDP in the second quarter of 2018 to increase 5.3-5.4% year-on-year, above the first quarter forecast (5.2% year-on-year). ING recalled that "Poland remains a significant part of the German supply chain and evidence from leading indicators points to improvement there." (ANSA).
