(ANSA) - ZAGREB, JULY 3 - Croatia, which has been working for several weeks on planning different ways to save at least part of the tourist season, today opened special lanes at border crossings for the fast entry of tourists already registered in the digital system of the Interior Ministry. The country opened its borders to all EU citizens a month ago, introducing some restrictions for those arriving from the hardest-hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic. From these countries, including Italy, it will be possible to enter Croatia on proven economic reasons, among which are those for tourism purposes, if proof of hotel reservation or other accommodation is exhibited at the border. If you wish to speed up your entry, you'd better report your arrival by filling out a form available on the multilingual website entercroatia.mup.hr, designed by the Croatian Interior Ministry. Pre-registered travelers can now access the special lanes at the four main crossings on the Slovenian-Croatian border, including Rupa (from Italy to Rijeka and Dalmatia) and Plovanija (from Italy to Istria). The goal is to speed up verification times and avoid long queues. In the past week, more than a million people have entered Croatia using the pre-registration system, more than half of them to enjoy a tourist stay on the Croatian Adriatic coastline. (ANSA).
