Rijeka 2020: a guide for the city and Kvarner

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 09 LUG - Bad beginning for Rijeka 2020, the city of Croatia (Rijeka) capital of culture: as soon as the big opening parties have ended, the pandemic has imposed the lockdown and therefore also the suspension of all of the numerous initiatives planned to celebrate this very special year for the beautiful town with an elegant seafront. Although these days the coronavirus spread in the country imposes caution and rigor, the year is still long, and much more can be done.

In the meantime, the Repubblica Guide on Fiume-Rijeka and the Kvarner has been published, on the occasion of the year of culture. "The game has not yet been played, Rijeka can still capitalize on the great event in the remaining six months of 2020, also taking advantage of the link with Italy of these border territories," said Giuseppe Cerasa, editor-in-chief of the newspaper's Guides. "There is still a lot of Italy in Rijeka's veins and DNA, and there is also a lot of Europe," Cerasa added. The book focuses even on the marvelous small and large islands, the unpolluted mountains, and the whole Kvarner Gulf. Prominent personalities wrote the opening lines of the guide, telling the particular aspects of Rijeka they like.

Moreover, the book offers dozens of itineraries to discover the known and lesser-known fascinating glimpses. The reader can also enjoy a journey through the pleasures and flavors of the gulf, thanks to a section focusing on local festivals and vines, foodie experiences and itineraries, active holidays. In short, from the maritime cuisine of the coastline to the rustic menus of the Gorski Kotar mountains. (ANSA).
