Tourism: Croatia, attendance at 55% compared with 2019

Better than expected

16 July, 18:13
(ANSA) - ZAGREB, 16 LUG - Nearly a million tourists stayed on the Croatian Adriatic coast in the first half of July, 55% of those recorded in the same period last year. The Croatian Tourism Association reported.

According to the source, this percentage is better than was expected a month ago, when some estimates spoke of a drop of about 80%. These numbers, "are the consequence of the excellent Covid-19's scenario that the Croatian coast can boast in the Mediterranean Region".

Most of the 950,000 tourists were foreigners, with the Germans ranked first, followed by Slovenes, Czechs, Poles, and Austrians.

Coronavirus has also seen a sharp surge in Croatia for about a month, with around eighty new cases a day, but the country has decided to remain completely open, especially to help the tourism sector, which is key to Croatia's economy and equals to 15% of the country's GDP. (ANSA).
