Coronavirus: Slovenia stops trucks from Italy

Measures to prevent cul-de-sac due to checks in Croatia, Hungary

13 March, 12:43
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 13 MAR - The Slovenian authorities have started to reject entry into Slovenia to all vehicles over 3.5 tons that do not have a Slovenian license plate crossing from neighbouring Italy. Trucks with Italian plates can pass only if they are not in transit, if they are heading only to Slovenia and if they are transporting perishable goods.

The restrictions were decided by an emergency decree of the Slovenian government, published in the Slovenian Official Gazette yesterday night, diplomatic sources told ANSA.

The Slovenian National Traffic Information Service (PIC) reported very long waiting times for trucks entering Croatia and Hungary from Slovenia. Croatia and Hungary are currently rejecting "all vehicles arriving from Italy," PIC specified.
