Consumers purchase fewer toys and electronic goods

Holiday spending drops in Italy for 2012 (ANSA) - Rome, December 26 - Italian consumer group Federconsumatori said on Wednesday that overall holiday spending in the country plummeted 14% compared to 2011. Consumers purchased 3% fewer toys and 4% less electronic goods, the report said.

The average expenditure per family for holiday gifts was approximately 148 euros, reaching a total national expenditure of between 3.5 to 3.8 billion euros.
