Algeria: Constantine to be 2015 world Arab culture capital

150 million euros for new museums, theaters, large-scale events

(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, 28 FEBRUARY - It will take 150 million euros to bring the north-eastern city of Constantine, also known as the City of Bridges, up to par by 2015, when it will be the world capital of Arab culture.

The budget will cover 12 large-scale events for visitors and academics throughout the year. Authorities also plan to renovate the Culture House and seven movie theaters, and to build a 3,000-seat theater, a new national art and history museum, a palace of culture, and exhibition pavilions.
