(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, 10 OTT - Apart from regions in Eastern
Europe, the most concerned by the conflict in Ukraine are those
in Southern Europe, according to the annual report on the state
of cities and regions presented by the European Committee of the
Regions. Regions with a medium-high level of sensibility to the
conflict are mainly in the Mediterranean area: Cyprus, most of
Italy and the majority of Spain and Portugal, the report said.
Lazio was one of the most sensitive regions to the conflict. In the rest of Europe, an exception was represented by Germany, which showed the same level of concern.
The report highlighted that, while the direct of effects of war on GDP were more tenuous when moving from Eastern European regions to those in the West, the effects on inflation were particularly strong, especially in Spain and Portugal.
