Libya: armed group seizes 40 Egyptian workers in the east

Families of the kidnapped beg help from Egyptian authorities

    (ANSAmed) - IL CAIRO, MARCH 14 - An armed Libyan group today seized 40 Egyptians in the eastern region of Libya, Egyptian security forces said. The Egyptian authorities said they were alerted by the families of those kidnapped after the families had received telephone calls from their kin.

    The families, originating in the governorate of Fayoum, appealed to Egyptian authorities and the foreign ministry to do everything possible to free the hostages.

    The 40 Egyptians, who work in eastern Libya, were taken at dawn today by masked armed men and conducted to an unknown location. (ANSAmed).
