(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, JUNE 3 - As of June 18, the first day of Ramadan, television channel 'F48' (Falastin 1948) will become operational in Ramallah, West Bank. Conceived by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), with the financial aid of the PLO as well, the new broadcaster is aimed at Arabs in Israel. The channel will be broadcast as part of the package offered by Palsat, the Palestinian satellite channel, and means to establish a closer connection between the PNA and the Arab part of Israel. For now, most programs will have a social and cultural focus.

Haaretz stressed that the creation of the new channel, on which the PNA has been working for a while, has been significantly influenced by the recent electoral success of the United Arab list - the third-largest party in the Knesset - which was welcomed with enthusiasm by part of the Palestinian leadership.
