(ANSAmed) - RABAT, JUNE 19 - Electricity saving, optimal water management, thermal and acoustic comfort and security were focused on in the design of the new Maroc Telecom Tower in Rabat inaugurated by King Mohammad VI on Monday. The new 91-metre-high glass corporate headquarters of the kingdom's top telecommunications operator boasts 23 levels and integrates the latest technology in the field of energy efficiency, thanks to which it received a honourable mention from the Ecobuilding Forum jury in Paris.

Architect of the project alongside the Moroccan Omar Kobbite, Jean Paul Viguier remarked on the innovative aspects of the tower in terms of architecture, ecology and sustainability. He noted that it was made of a ''double skin'' glass facade ventilated with motorized blinds in aluminum, reducing energy consumption to a minimum. The facade of the high-tech, 12,000-square-metre structure was by the Italian group Simeon, which took part alongside many other internationally well-known firms in making the tower into a one-of-a-kind work.
