(ANSAmed) - ROME, OCTOBER 17 - The Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Heads of Network (HoNs) agreed on a proposal to revitalize Euro-Med cooperation with four projects that will be presented at a Euro-Med high-level event in Ponza in 2020, following a two-day international conference held at the Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome on October 15-16, 2019.

Over 50 national and international experts took part in the conference, including the ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Participants also included a representative of the Institut Franais de Rome, in line with an initiative launched last June by French President Emmanuel Macron. In Marseille, the Summit of the Two Shores selected an ambitious French-Italian project called "Scaena Mediterranea" as a cultural driving force of Euro-Med cultural cooperation in the 5 + 5 countries of the western Mediterranean, which will later be extended to those of the eastern Mediterranean.

During the Rome conference, the ALF HoNs from Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Turkey, Germany and Italy approved a proposal to meet again on Ponza in September 2020 for the second Ponza Prima-Med event to present the following four projects together: - Scaena Mediterranea, on the Greek-Roman theatres; - La Ruta Flamenca, an initiative on musical language that brings together collective identities in conflict; - Ponza Prima-Med, on sustainable development and the circular economy; - Identitary Cuisine, to be discussed in Tunis on October 21 at the Cerealia event "Ethics on the plate: food, health, environment".

Representatives of the Italian Network for Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue (RIDE-APS) and the ALF HoN in Italy drafted a shared road map in cooperation with HoN colleagues gathered in Rome. It includes a planned inter-institutional seminar to be held December 6, 2019 on the sidelines of the next edition of Rome MED - Mediterranean Dialogues between the leaders of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), ALF, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAoC), and the PRIMA Foundation. The goal is general revitalization of Euro-Med cooperation ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration. (ANSAmed).
