ROME - The exhibition "Raffaello Ritrattista" ("Raffaello, Portraitist") has arrived at the National Museum of Kosovo.
The exhibition was sponsored by the Italian embassy in Pristina and the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana.
Curated by the art historian Antonio Paolucci, the exhibition presents to the public life-size reproductions of 14 works by the Italian artist, the 500th anniversary of whose death was commemorated last year.
Among the portraits are ones of Baldassarre Castiglione (loaned by the Louvre) and the "Young Woman with Unicorn" (Galleria Borghese).
Thanks to the use of innovative techniques, starting from photographs from archives of the Italian broadcaster RAI, the reproductions of the paintings preserve the details, shades and colors of the originals.
The back lighting and support structure optimize viewing from every angle.
A multimedia and interactive structure also enable the public to get to know the life and works of Raffaello.
The exhibition has already travelled to Tunisia, Turkey, and Finland and will remain at the National Museum of Pristina from Sept. 21 to Oct. 10 and then travel to Northern Macedonia.
