(ANSAmed) - ROME, 30 MAR - An international project to promote Italian design called Sensitaliani is kicking off in Kuwait, in a collaboration between POLI.design, founded by Milan Polytechnic University, and the Italian Embassy in Kuwait.

The ten-month project will tell the story of Italian design in its unique multidisciplinary aspects of ability, creativity, research and entrepreneurship.

The Italian ambassador to Kuwait, Carlo Baldocci, said the initiative has attracted strong interest in Kuwait, where Italian design is a very significant part of economic and trade relations between the two countries and is destined to further expand Italy-Kuwait dialogue and opportunities for collaboration.

Baldocci expressed great appreciation for support for the initiative by the architecture programmes at the University of Kuwait and the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait.

From March to December 2021, Sensitaliani, under the scientific direction of professor Anna Barbara, will promote three main activities aimed at design students and professionals in Kuwait who are interested in Italian design.

The first part of the programme will include two cycles of online lessons and conferences, followed by a study trip "in the field" in Italy for participants.

The theme for the project is "Italian senses" - certainly sight, but also hearing, smell, touch and taste - for a 360-degree exploration of Italian design and to raise awareness and knowledge of Italian culture, from art to fashion, theatre, cinema, nature, sport, and more.

Design is seen not only as a trade vehicle for Made in Italy companies in the sector, but also as a way to promote Italy and the "country system" in its broader form: cultural, artistic, social, economic and educational.

The collaboration officially kicks off on March 31, 2021 and will end with an awards ceremony for students and the presentation of final projects together with materials, interviews, photographs and videos made during all phases of the project.

POLI.design, together with the School of Design and the Department of Design, makes up the Design System of Milan Polytechnic, among the top universities in the world.

The university is currently ranked in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2020 as first in Italy, third in Europe and sixth in the world in the category of art and design. (ANSAmed).
