(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, SEPTEMBER 26 - The first phase of the UN Action Plan for Libya began Tuesday in Tunis with a planned meeting between the two dialogue committees of the House of Representatives in Tobruk (HOR) and the High Council of State in Tripoli, according to a statement from the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

It said the two factions would propose to UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salamé a series of modifications to the Libyan Political Agreement.

The accord was signed in Skhirat, Morocco, in December 2015. Salamé presented the UN Action Plan for Libya on September 20 at the high-level meeting on Libya held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also took part in the high-level meeting.

The UN Action Plan for Libya provides an inclusive, representative, Libyan-led road map under UN supervision.

It includes a limited series of amendments to the Libyan Political Agreement, which will be followed by a national conference bringing together the various factions.

That will be followed by the House of Representatives and the Constitutional Drafting Assembly working together to create a legislative basis for holding a constitutional referendum as well as parliamentary and presidential elections within a year.(ANSAmed).
