(ANSAmed) - MADRID, OCTOBER 13 - About 100 illegal migrants
from Sub-Saharan Africa managed to climb over the Melilla border
fence from Morocco into Spanish territory, according to press
reports from Madrid.
The Spanish town of Melilla is surrounded by various fences and under permanent video surveillance by the country's Civil Guard, but the migrants were aided by a torrential downpour at the moment they scaled the wall - many with screwdrivers in their shoes to aid their climb.
After they reached Spanish territory, they began running for the temporary migrant reception centre in the Barrio del Real neighbourhood, shouting 'bossa!' which means 'victory', said Spanish news agency EFE.
This is the second time in just over a month that the wall has been illegally breached by a large group of migrants. On September 4, about a hundred illegal migrants managed to climb the border fence and reach the Spanish side.(ANSAmed).
