RABAT - Tourism is on the mend in Morocco where figures indicate an increase of visitors. During the months of June and July a total of 3.2 million tourist arrivals were registered, 65% of these in the month of July, with over 2 million arrivals. The season is considered exceptional by industry operators who believe they have restored the numbers of 2019, bringing back the tourism clock to pre-Covid times.
The number of registered overnight stays in June and July this year is 3.8 million for a total turnover of 27.3 million Moroccan dirham (approximately 3 million euro), equal to 81% registered during the same time period in 2019. To a great extent this result is thanks to Moroccans who reside abroad: 1.4 million visited their home country in June.
