(ANSAmed) - ROME, APRIL 19 - Qatar claims it is ready to host the World Cup 2022, hopefully with visitors in the stadium.

Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani made the announcement Friday during a virtual conference.

"Right now there are programs under development to provide vaccination to all the attendees of the World Cup," he said.

The minister noted that the Doha international airport had remained open and that Qatar Airways had helped to repatriate many citizens of many countries during the crisis.

He added that Qatar had built one of the largest plants in the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the region and that he believed that the FIFA World Cup 2022 would be the "first zero-emissions world event" ever.(ANSAmed).
