MADRID - A forest fire that broke out in the evening in the province of Malaga (Andalucia), in southern Spain, led authorities in the subsequent hours to evacuate over 400 people and close a section of the AP-7 motorway and two provincial roads, said regional emergency services and local media.
The fire concerns the towns of Jubrique, Estepona and Genuacil, located near a mountain area called Sierra Bermeja.
Overnight, regional authorities in Andalucia activated an emergency plan that allows them to take measures to protect people and property.
Firefighters and firetrucks are active on site, along with firefighting aircraft.
Strong winds in the area are complicating the operation, local media said.
