MADRID - Spanish Premier Pedro Sanchez has expresses grief for the victims of an assault last Friday at the enclave of Melilla in which at least 23 migrants died, according to an official toll released by Morocco. However, some media outlets have reported as many as 37 victims.

"We are pained by the loss of human lives, in this case of desperate (people) looking for a better life", said Sanchez in an interview to the newspaper La Vanguardia. "They are victims and tools of mafias and criminals who organize violent actions against our border", added the prime minister, stressing again a concept already expressed last Saturday during a press conference.
