(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, 29 NOV - Turkey's offensive against
Kurdish forces in northern Syria could start "tomorrow, next
week or at any time", said the spokesman for Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin, quoted by Haberturk. For
over a week, Ankara has launched a military operation against
Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraq, in the wake of the Istanbul
terror attack of November 13, but, for now, only with air raids
and artillery fire shot from Turkish territory. Erdogan has
mentioned the possibility of intervening in future also with
soldiers and tanks.
Kalin said that Turkey is in contact with neighboring countries and allies over the military operations which it intends to conduct but that it doesn't need to obtain permission to act. Erdogan's spokesman also said that US potential concern over an offensive against Kurdish forces in northern Syria would not impact Ankara's military actions. (ANSAmed).
