NAPLES - A total of 100 conference and meetings will be held in five rooms, with 400 moderators and speakers, 150 exhibitors (18 regions, the culture ministry with 500 square meters and parks and independent museums) from 20 countries, 40 European and national buyers: these are the numbers of the 23rd Mediterranean bourse of Archaeological Tourism on November 25 until Sunday November 28 in Paestum, at the Tabacchificio Cafasso, an industrial archaeological site.
Proposals include ArcheoVirtual (International show of virtual archaeology with 10 productions), ArcheoExperience (laboratories of experimental archaeology), and ArcheoStartup (14 youth companies of cultural tourism).
Three proposals will be launched at the BMTA, one of international value, as well as a national and local one: the candidature at the Council of Europe of the European Cultural Itinerary "Mediterranean Underwater Cultural Heritage", in the national parks of electric cars for sustainable mobility and the "Cilento in perspective. For a national model of Culture of the Territory". "The re-launch of the tourism sector in Campania, which already registered positive numbers last summer, continues in the fall through this type of events that confirm and support the implementation of guidelines of our tourism plan", explained Felice Casucci, a councilor for administrative simplification and tourism of the Campania region, speaking at the presentation of the program at the headquarters of the journalists' guild in Campania.
"In the space of a few months, we have leased the former tobacco plant of Cafasso - explained Franco Alfieri, mayor of Capaccio Paestum - an example of industrial archaeology that has important historic-cultural value, and we have renovated it in record time". "I hope that at the end of this event in Paestum, the relationship between valorization and territorial sites will be increasingly fundamental. From this standpoint, archaeological areas and museums in Campania, even little-known ones, are involved in the great regional project that means to create a shared platform of programs", stressed Rosanna Romano, the director general of cultural and tourism policies of the Campania region.
"The ministry's work on this initiative has been significant - explained Salvatore Buonomo, the regional secretary of the ministry of culture for Campania - This because we believe the Bourse is an occasion to promote knowledge, the basis of all activities that must shake consciences. The ministry's program is captivating and is part of a wider strategy of valorization".
Ugo Picarelli, the founder and director of BMTA, thanked mayor Alfieri "who, with his pledge to redevelop the Tabacchificio Cafasso in the short term (only 40 days), after 22 years allows us to show that, in the south, with adequate and stable exhibition centers, it is possible to realize initiatives of international value and have the attention of institutions, experts in the sector, the great public and the press".
