(ANSAmed) - ROME, APR 9 - (by Rodolfo Calò) (ANSAmed) - CAIRO, APRIL 9 - A digital platform vies to connect Italy and Egypt through design, architecture and landscaping, with an eye on fashion and art. It was created by fuorisalone.it and by the Egyptian specialized publication El Beit Magazine and presented Thursday in Cairo.

The new digital publication "Cairo Milano Design" will be active starting on April 15, creating a section on the website www.fuorisalone.it and promoters hope it will have a "physical extension" in September during the next Milano Design Week, the union of the Salone del Mobile and events organized on the sidelines of the initiative in Milan, as outlined during the presentation for the press which was organized at the Italian cultural institute in Cairo.

"Many initiatives" are also being planned by Italian and Egyptian brands and designers thanks to the networks of Fuorisalone in Italy and of the magazine of Egyptian publishing group al-Ahram in Egypt.

"We think that design is a very good language, beautiful and useful to join different cultures and renew the heritage" of countries, said Luca Fois in a video screened to launch the initiative. Fois is the co-founder of the new "net magazine" and a professor at the faculty of design of Milan's Polytechnic.

Another co-founder, Cristian Confalonieri, also said in a video that he firmly believes the new Italian-Egyptian collaboration will be able to create "relations" with "brands and societies by developing special projects" and, among other things, "by offering a wide range of services.

After two similar collaborations with Beijing and Tokyo, this is the third foreign cooperation carried out by Fuorisalone, participants said at the presentation. "Cairo Milano Design" was created "under the patronage" of Egyptian Premier Moustafa Madbouly and "vies to deliver the best of Egyptian creativity", participants also stressed, adding that the new website "opens a door to the exchange of knowledge" and the "creation of partnerships". Moreover, it means to "cement strong business relations, offering a world of opportunity".

The platform "aims to create a cultural dialogue" and a "bridge between two iconic cities" going "beyond", it was added.

The presentation of the platform was enriched by the exhibition, which was organized at the Italian cultural institute in Cairo, of seven design pieces that were chosen to highlight the proximity in style of Italian and Egyptian creativity.

"Fuori Salone is a great cultural festival that involves the whole city of Milan", said the director of the Italian cultural institute in the Egyptian capital, Davide Scalmani, addressing journalists and several leading participants including the president of the Al Ahram group, Abdel-Mohsen Salama.

The annual event organized during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan has shown Italians and foreign visitors "that design is connected to our entire life", also said Scalmani. (ANSAmed).
