(ANSAmed) - VENICE, 16 SET - Photography will be used to celebrate the 1,600th birthday of the city of Venice, with the Fondazione di Venezia paying homage to it through two shows: one at the Rio Novo and another at the Casa dei Tre Oci.

"Venice, Gianni Berengo Gardin, and Maurizio Galimberti. Two visions, compared" is a parallel path in the art of the two well-known twentieth-century photographers, in an idealized itinerary across the city.

"This is the demonstration of how stylistic differences can be reciprocally enriching in a dialogue at a distance, constituting true poetry," curator Denis Curti said in a presentation on Thursday.

"Human Venice - Inhuman Venice" on the Giudecca island instead accompanies the visitor through a series of contradictions of the city, in its shadows and in the light.

In the words of Fotografico La Gondola, Massimo Stefanutti president, "in this exhibition, the authors wanted to narrate through their own photos a reality that is ever more difficult to manage, shedding light on all the negative aspects".

"We wanted to take part in the celebrations for Venice's birthday by touching on all its points, including the metropolitan areas, with a show at the M9 in Mestre," said Fondazione di Venezia president Michele Bugliesi. " All three exhibitions aim to be something other than just an everyday sort of show, able to tell about a Venice that over the course of centuries experienced significant change." (ANSAmed).
