(ANSAmed)- BELGRADE, 10 SEPTEMBER - The Jewish Historical Museum in Belgrade opened on Monday an exhibition entitled Synagogical Ritual Items, which includes items from the museum depot that have never been on display before. Head of the museum Vojislava Radovanovic opened the exhibition by saying that it included all types of items from the museum's ethnological collection and that it was very interesting, because some of the exhibits were on display for the first time, including some that rabbi Isak Aksiel had brought recently from the Belgrade synagogue. The Jewish Historical Museum in Belgrade is the only Jewish museum in Serbia and one of the best organized in the region, with the one in Thessaloniki possibly being the only better one, Radovanovic noted. The museum marks its 65th anniversary this year and has a number of significant collections, the ethnological one being the largest with 1,000 items, then there is a valuable collection of old and rare books, historical collection, Holocaust collection and a collection of paintings and drawings by jewish artists.(ANSAmed)
