Algeria: Imports falling, exports up

    (ANSAmed) - TUNIS, MARCH 20 - The first two months of this year have seen Algerian imports falling while the country's exports have risen. Between January and February, imports stood at 6.7 billion dollars compared to 7.15 billion in the same period last year. According to this report from the Algerian Customs, this represents a 6.4 percent fall. The fall in February was even more dramatic: -10.7 percent with a value of 2.95 billion dollars compared to 3.31 in February 2011. The greatest falls came in imports of machine products for industry and agriculture. Exports grew from 11.24 in the first two months of 2011 to 13.13 for this year. (ANSAmed).
