(ANSAmed) - DUBAI, MARCH 6 - The Dubai International Boat Show, the most important nautical event of the Middle East, the region which has 30 of the world's 100 largest yachts, kicked off on Wednesday . This 21st edition, which will last five days, will showcase 430 boats and deluxe yachts.

Italy will be well represented. The country has a close cooperation with the boat show: the Italian institute for foreign trade Ice, in cooperation with the sector's association Ucina, has organized the collective participation of 20 Italian organizations and companies operating in the sector including those based in the Liguria district coordinated by the region, Liguria International and Wtc Genoa.

Prestigious groups which regularly attend the show will also be present, including the Benedetti group, San Lorenzo, Ferretti and Fincantieri.

After the financial crisis, the nautical market in the region is now picking up with a growing interest for the largest and most luxurious boats - a trend benefiting the Italian market.

'According to data on the first 11 months of 2012, Italian exports towards the United Arab Emirates have increased by 35,3% for a volume exceeding 22 million euros, the director of the Ice office in Dubai, Ferdinando Fiore, told ANSA.

In 2011 Italian boat exports towards the UAE placed Italy second in after France and ahead of Germany as the main foreign providers in the sector. (ANSAmed)
