Lebanon: 5.8 mln euros in EU funds for infrastructure

Part of a 14 mln private sector programme

    (ANSAmed) - Beirut, 8 May - The European Union and the Lebanese ministry of economy and commerce have launched the third phase of the Qualeb Programme, a joint project to strengthen infrastructure in Lebanon. The EU will provide a total of 5.8 million euros for the projects.

    The third phase of the Qualeb Programme, worth a total of 4.4 million euros, is aimed at adapting Lebanese products and services to international standards.

    The EU will also provide 1.4 million euros for a joint project between the British Standards Institution Royal Charter and the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing to improve the country's infrastructure network.

    The two projects are part of a broader effort by the European Union to spend a total of 14 million euros to support Lebanon and its competitiveness in the private sector, in particular for small and medium enterprises. (ANSAmed).
