Gas: South Stream start work this summer on Serbian stretch

Gazprom head, attention to environmental safety

    (ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, APRIL 11 - The Serbian section of gas pipeline South Stream, the Gazprom-Eni joint project intended to bring Russian gas to Europe while avoiding through Ukrainian territory, will start work this summer. Gazprom Project officer, Leonid Ciugunov, said in Belgrade that formalities regarding ownership of land affected by the pipeline have been completed. For the production of the Serbian stretch, Ciugunov stressed, particular attention to environmental safety was applied, with the use of technologies and materials with low environmental impact.
