(ANSAmed) - NAPLES, JULY 10 - The eleventh Ischia Global Film and Music Fest is set to begin on Saturday, July 13.

Many American stars will be in attendance for the festival on the island in the Gulf of Naples. The two most well-known are Nicholas Cage and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as director Paul Haggis - who won two Oscars for the screenplay and directing of 'Crash' in 2007 - and Terry Gilliam, Joel Schumacher and Baz Luhrmann. This year's edition focuses on France as country guest of honour, opening with Roman Polanski's 'Venus in Fur', which was presented at the last Cannes Film Festival.

The events will kick off on Saturday with an evening in memory of Luchino Visconti and Italian director Mimmo Calopresti taking part. There will also be previews like one for 'Turbo', an animated film starring a snail that wants to win the Indy 500, presented by Samuel L. Jackson, whose voice is that of one of the main characters. The festival will include two photography exhibitions. In Villa La Colombaia there will be one commemorating the most well-known Italian press agent: ''Enrico Lucherini - Purchè Se ne Parli. Dietro le Quinte di 50 anni di Cinema Italiano'', introduced by Giuseppe Tornatore. In Palazzo Pezzillo, instead, there will be an exhibition in memory of Modugno with ''Nel Blu Dipinto di Note. Omaggio a Domenico Modugno'', curated by the Rome Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. (ANSAmed).
