Tourism: MAST project - free training in 4 languages

    TUNIS - Promoting the dynamic growth of the tourism sector in the Mediterranean area, which is an important source of revenue for a growing number of workers, mainly youths and women, is the main objective of the project MAST "Mediterranean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism" ( The project is promoted in a context still strongly affected by Covid and a drop in tourism activities.

    Funded by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), through Giz and German cooperation, MAST intervenes to support businesses in the tourism sector through free online training in four languages (French, Greek, English and Italian). In Tunisia, MAST is managed by Umnagri (, an international NGO which, together with four Euro-Mediterranean partners (Eild/Greece, Upo/Italy, Mactt/Malta and Orda/Morocco) contributes to the realization of the project.

    "This training is not just addressed to citizens of the five countries involved in the project, but all those who in other countries want to start thinking in a concrete way about a sustainable tourism for the post-Covid phase. It is in this context of health and social uncertainty that the MAST project vies to stimulate the creation of innovative business ideas and new marketing and communication strategies in the Mediterranean", said Maira Fiorini, coordinator of the project in Tunisia, exposing characteristics and aims of the project.

    The training offered by MAST is a free online course; at the end of the program, participants will be invited to present ideas. The creators of the best ideas will be contacted to elaborate their business plan in collaboration with the Università del Piemonte Orientale.
