(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, 08 GIU - The sixth edition of the Med Mag Oliva will be held June 10-13 at the international fair in Soussse.

Organizers said that the exhibition would go ahead despite the difficulties linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions connected with it.

Some 80 exhibitors will be taking part in this exhibition including 30 from various foreign countries: Spain, Turkey, Italy, Jordan, Syria, Cameroon, and Senegal.

The objective underlying the holding of Med Mag Oliva in these circumstances is to ensure its continuity and regional position in the field of olive oil, said director Basta Hmaidi.

The exhibition will include bilateral meetings between Tunisian companies and foreign exhibitors to purchase Tunisian olive oil and its derivatives.

Ten Tunisian start-ups that have begun packaging their own brands of olive oil, derivatives, and products from olive wood will hold partnership meetings with several companies in Cameroon, Senegal, and Libya.

The organisers expect 3,000 visitors interested in finding out about the latest technologies used in the production of olive oil and its derivatives.

For the occasion, most of the varieties of Tunisian olives and new techniques used in the field to preserve and harvest them will be highlighted.

Between November 1, 2020, and the end of April 2021, Tunisia exported the equivalent of 124,700 tons of olive oil for a value of 991 million Tunisian dinars: 111,700 tons of olive oil in bulk and 24,000 tons of packaged oil. (ANSAmed).
