(ANSAmed) - CAIRO, JANUARY 28 - Port Said's Al-Masry football club supporters called for a rally Monday night at 8pm (7pm Italian time) in defiance of President Mohamed Morsi's curfew, set to begin at 9pm local time. ''Port Said is a free and brave city, which won't bow down and which refuses to lose its citizens unjustly,'' the fans wrote on their Facebook page. Al-Masry fans were involved in the riot that led to the deaths of more than 70 supporters of rival Al-Ahly team in February last year.

More than 40 people have died in clashes between Saturday and Sunday. Also on Monday, the opposition National Salvation Front called for peaceful mass rallies on Friday February 1. In a document issued today, the Front blamed Morsi for imposing a state of emergency on three ''daring'' cities without using ''the necessary dialogue and political means.'' (ANSAmed).
