(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MARCH 4 - Unidentified militia attacked an Iraqi military convoy, killing 33 Syrian soldiers and seven Iraqis in Anbar Province near the Syrian border, police sources said on Monday.

Dozens of Syrian soldiers were killed when militia attacked an Iraqi convoy transporting Syrian military personnel, according to a local correspondent from Al-Arabiya Pan-Arab TV.

Also on Monday, government forces lost their first provincial capital as rebels seized the city of Ar-Raqqah, the capital of the Ar-Raqqah Governorate in northen Syria, Al-Arabiya reported.

According to the Observatory for the Human Rights, dozen of rebels and loyalist soldiers died in battle. (ANSAmed).
