Middle East: Jerusalem Mufti questioned for six hours

    (ANSAmed) - Jerusalem, May 8 - Israeli police on Wednesday released the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Muhammad Hussein, after six hours of questioning.

    Hussein was taken to a police station early Wednesday and questioned over several recent incidents near the Al-Aqsa mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem, police sources said.

    The Mufti is the highest religious authority in the Palestinian Territories. Police said their inquiries were continuing. (ANSAmed)
