(ANSAmed) - CAIRO - Four bombs on Wednesday exploded at four subway stations in Cairo, wounding at least three people, a number of sources said including Mena news agency. One of them is seriously injured.

Mena said the injuries were reported at the Shobra El-Kheima station.

Other sources said the other stations targeted are Hadayek El-Kobba, Ghamra and El-Helmeya, in two of the three governorates making up Cairo.

Egyptian police said the bombs were ''highly rudimental''. A source with the company managing Cairo's subway lines claimed the bombs had been placed inside waste baskets. The firm's spokesman said the device which exploded at the Shobra El-Kheima station, wounding three people, was not a bomb but a ''box with fireworks'', Mena reports.

Circulation has gone back to ''normal'' in spite of the explosions, spokesman Ahmed Abdelhedi was quoted as saying by Mena.(ANSAmed)
